Who is this course for?

This course was developed for any pregnant person who wants to feel more mentally prepared for pregnancy and labour. The is developed from sport and performance psychology methods for high-performance athletes. You do not need to be an athlete to participate, but those of you the world of sport or other high-performance careers may particularly connect with the course content.

How does this course differ from other birth prep offerings?

Great question!  While many other birth preparation courses teach pain management, relaxation, positive affirmations and imagery techniques; Perform to Push dives deeper into these topics, and offers additional strategies and resources to support you during pregnancy, labour, and postpartum healing.

Mckenzie has years of experience working in applied psychology settings in addition to her specialised training in sport and performance psychology. After giving birth to a little lad of her own, she realised the power of sport psychology for supporting others throughout pregnancy and labour. Thus, Perform to Push was born!

Accompanying handouts and worksheets to engage with course content and practice reflection.

Audio recordings for guided relaxation, mindfulness practice and visualisation exercises.

Access to the private online Perform to Push forum where you can connect with other pregnant people and ask questions.

Optional online (non-clinical) support groups where you can practice techniques learned in the course and connect with other pregnant people on the same journey as you.

A bonus session specifically catered to athletes about navigating athletic identity during the transition to parenthood.

Mental Skills for Pregnancy and Labour

Pregnancy is like a marathon; add in labour and recovery and it's more like an Ironman triathlon. So prepare for the big push using the same techniques used by high-performance athletes by choosing the course experience that works best for you.

This course offers mental skills derived from the field of Sport and Performance psychology to help you have a positive birth experience. This is not a clinical intervention.
